Last weekend was my birthday and my wonderful husband planned a lovely day trip up to New Glarus Brewery. We got to taste a few tasty brews, tour around the facility, and grab a nice light lunch in the adorable little town before heading back to our neck of the woods for dinner.
Mark made reservations at a restaurant that we hadn’t tried before (Adelle’s in Wheaton) We would highly recommend it – not only was the food and service amazing but the atmosphere was warm and cozy too – just perfect. It had snowed (again!) that evening and we were seated by a lovely modern fireplace.
Something else that caught my eye was their cheerful centerpiece on one of the front tables. After a closer look, I realized that they were bocce balls! How fun is that? Especially on a chilly night when spring feels like forever away.
I always fall back on flowers and candles for my centerpieces or party decor, but the bocce balls got me thinking – what other random items could I use for out-of-the-ordinary centerpieces? I did a little Pinterest research and found a few great inspirations.
Maybe I’m just dying for sunshine after this loooong winter – but I thought these pinwheel centerpieces were adorable. Source: Wedding Chicks

I’ve been itching to try my hand at creating little terrariums as focal pieces such as these: Source: StyleMePretty

I’m looking forward to trying some of these over the next few months whenever we have our friends and family over – or just to liven up the house. Do you have any great ideas for out-of-the-ordinary centerpieces?
