Well the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, and it seems that developing signature drinks runs in the family! My mom, Patricia Burnside, has been trying her hand at creating her own refreshing mocktails and I thought I’d invite her to guest blog and feature one of her new faves, the Red Scurvy Chaser.
Hello, everyone! I started experimenting with different mocktails because I was looking for a nice, crisp drink once I got home from work each day. I started with just tonic water and lime slices, and graduated from there. The Red Scurvy Chaser is my latest concoction that features cranberry juice, sweet and sour mix, lime sparkling seltzer water, a lime wedge and to top it off, maraschino cherries! I hope you enjoy my fizzy and refreshing drink!
Red Scurvy Chaser Mocktail Recipe
Here’s what you’ll need:
- Crushed ice (we chop up the cubes in a blender)
- 3 oz cranberry juice
- 1 oz sweet and sour mix
- 2 oz. lime sparkling seltzer water
- 1 lime wedge
- 2 maraschino cherries
(Makes one serving)
First, I chill the glass a few minutes in the freezer before making the drink. After about ten minutes, take the glass out and fill it about 1/3 full with crushed ice.
Then add the cranberry juice, sweet sour mix, and lime sparkling seltzer water. Stir until well mixed.
Take the lime wedge and squeeze it into the drink and then drop it in
Place 2 maraschino cherries on a toothpick and place in (or on top of) drink
Last but not least, use a straw to drink this cool nonalcoholic beverage!
