NYE Champagne Cocktail: The French 75

One of my go-to celebration cocktails has always been the classic French 75.   It combines two of my favorite liquors (gin and champagne!), which happens to be a perfect concoction for a New Year’s Eve cocktail.

For this recipe, I used our favorite {cheap} champagne, Michelle by Domaine St. Michelle.  It’s around $10 and has a good balance between tart and sweet.  We usually keep one of these in our fridge at all times, because you never know when you might have something to celebrate, big or small.

  • 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice
  • 1/2 oz simple syrup
  • 1 oz gin
  • 3 oz brut champagne (or sparkling white wine)
  • lemon twist

Combine the lemon juice, simple syrup, and gin in a cocktail shaker with ice.  Shake until chilled and pour into a champagne flute.  Next add the champagne.  Finish it off with a touch of lemon twist and enjoy!
