Gin Eyre Cocktail {Tequila Mockingbird Recipe}

For years, Mark and I have been drooling over the Crate and Barrel bar our friend’s have in their home. We finally pulled the trigger and had it delivered this past weekend.  We’re pretty smitten with it – we even had a piece of artwork  from our trip to Buenos Aires custom framed in order to hang it over the bar (not pictured)

I thought it would be fitting to christen the bar by making a drink recipe from the Tequila Mockingbird cocktail book {and to continue to reach for my new year’s resolution}.  I chose the Gin Eyre as it was one of the only spring nights we’ve had so far and I had a taste for something nice and refreshing. {I also feel that my girl, Jane Austen, would approve}

Gin Eyre Ingredients

Here’s what you’ll need to whip one up on your own (original recipe source):

  • 2 oz gin {we like to use Beefeater for cocktails as it is a good mixing gin, and is reasonably priced}
  • 1 oz lemon juice
  • 8 sprigs of mint, washed {from our cocktail herb garden!}
  • 1.5 tsp granulated sugar
  • 2 dashes orange bitters

Add the ingredients to a shaker and add ice.  I ripped up the mint before putting it in to help break it down. Shake the ingredients together, and pour into a martini glass.

There might be some mint pieces in the glass, but that just adds a little more mint flavor with a dash of color.

Cheers Ms. Austen!
