Can you believe next week is Labor Day already? This summer seemed to fly by – especially because we just got true summer weather here in Chicagoland. I’m not complaining though. We’ve had a wonderful summer so far filled with barbeques, outdoor concerts, camping, fun and relaxation, which was actually quite pleasant with the cooler summer temperatures.
With the end of summer approaching, I thought it would be nice to plan a picnic for a small group of friends. I started looking into some fun and easy ideas for food and drinks. Here’s what I found:
Zesty orzo mediterranean salad – we finally have our tomato harvest coming in and I love being able to use them in any recipe I can. And why not make it easy for transport by packing the salad in cute mason jars?

Another great use for our garden vegetables – tzatziki dip for veggies and pita chips.

Delicious and bubbly white peach sangria – refreshing and light drink that can be made ahead.

Perfect summer picnic dessert – strawberry shortcake on a stick! Think of how tasty these would be dipping them in to some fluffy cool whip.
