Chicago Beer Festival or the Best Place to Wear a Pretzel Necklace

On Saturday, Mark and I attended the 2013 Chicago Beer Festival with our friends, Braden and Mandy. ¬†We had the chance to sample over 60 craft breweries, though admittedly I think we only got to about 20 (have to check my Untappd app ūüėČ )

I also had a nice surprise while wandering around from table to table. ¬†Not only did I see¬†Flesk Brewing¬†– the local brewery that Mark and I had tried at¬†Harvest Fest¬†– but I discovered that I know of the brewer’s wife. ¬†We had been in¬†Indian Princesses¬†together when we were really young (Go Nez Pierce!), and had attended the same high school. ¬†Small world!

Mark and I were thankful to have attended with veterans of the Beer Festival and were told to bring pretzel necklaces ahead of time. ¬†They were a perfect snack while sipping our way around the festival. I can’t tell you how many people came up to ask us where we bought them… seriously considering opening a booth next year that sells only pretzel necklaces.

But why stop there? I’m always impressed by food innovators – why not create food necklaces for events other than beer tastings? ¬†Move over gourmet doughnuts, food necklaces may be the next big thing.
