Celebrating Family

Ever have one of those weekends that when you look back at it, it could summarize your whole summer?  This past weekend was one of those epic weekends for me.

I really enjoy planning parties for the people I love – and this past weekend I was lucky enough to co-host an engagement party for my brother, Kyle, and his fiance, Madeline, with my mom and Madeline’s sisters.  Everything turned out great!  Madeline’s sister, Theresa, came up with a great theme of craft beer – something that both Mads and Kyle enjoy (especially Kyle!)

Eat, Drink, And Soon to be Married!

This was the first time Mark and I hosted a party this big (nearly 60 people) and we were fortunate enough to have a perfect summer evening.  Our whole backyard was in shade by the time guests started to arrive and we had a mason jars with candles and tiki torches scattered everywhere, giving the party a nice glow.   We feasted on pulled pork and a whole buffet of wonderful food (including some cute seven layer dip in individual cups made by my mom and dad!)

          Cookie Cake Brownie Tower

Madeline’s sister, Becky, made this delicious cookie cake and adorable brownie tower.

It was such a great feeling to be celebrating two of the dearest people to our hearts, with so many wonderful people.  We are beyond excited for their big day next November (Mad’s asked me to be her matron of honor – I’m over the moon excited!) and we can’t wait to officially become one big happy family.

P.S. My only regret is that we were having so much fun at the party that I completely forgot to take any pictures once the guests started arriving – hence the lack of people in the photos!  If anyone has pictures, please please let me know, I’d love to get a copy of them!

It was the best party ever! Sorry, I forgot to take pictures, too.
