A group of our friends have a regular rotating dinner that has now been going on for a few years. It’s tons of fun and is a great way to stay in touch even with everyone’s busy schedules.
This past weekend it was our friends (Meghan and Sam) turn to host. They served some great pulled pork tacos. To go along with these tasty tacos, my husband brought all the fixings for what he likes to call the Proper Margarita. Mark is famous for these margaritas. They are delicious… some might say too delicious 😉 They are always made with fresh lime juice and have the perfect mix of tequila and cointreau. The real killer is the floater of tequila he adds at the end.
You can see Mark’s Proper Margarita recipe below:
- 1.5 oz of good tequila
- 1 oz of lime juice
- .5 oz cointreau
- A few ice cubes
- .25 – .50 oz of additional tequila for floater
- Lime slices
Before starting, you may want to add salt to your margarita glasses. We didn’t this time around, but it’s really a personal preference kind of thing.
Put the first three ingredients into a cocktail shaker, shake well, and pour into glasses over ice. THEN pour a floater of tequila by softly adding a .25 – .50 oz more of tequila to each glass. To finish it off, garnish each glass with a wedge of lime. And VOILA! the Proper Margarita.
